A frame school, officially known as United School Section No. 1 (U.S.S. #1) Saugeen, Arran & Elderslie, started in the 1880s but it burned down in 1902. It was rebuilt and served area residents until 1967 when central schools made the “one room schoolhouses” a thing of the past. It is now a residence.
